Yep, I made that word up.
When I was writing Missing Element, Hidden Strength, my autocorrection kept flagging the word uplevel. Turns out, it isn’t a word. Neither is uplevelment. And that’s precisely why I’m using a made-up word. We are all at a place that didn’t exist until now.
On April 20th, Jupiter and Uranus came together for what’s called an astrological conjunction. This transit called, demanded, invited (pick your word depending on your specific predicament) all of us to uplevel in one area of our life. It’s most likely the area of your life that’s gotten your focus and attention over the last month. Of course that area of your life spills over into others because life isn’t as compartmentalized as we think it is, or want it to be.
My spillover has been in my work. This week I’m at the Music Business Conference in Nashville. Representing music artists has been part of my long-term plan for years. That time is now. What seemed far off is here. And what seemed outside my comfort zone is as comfortable as the biscuit I ate for breakfast. It’s like coming home.
That’s the paradox. When we uplevel beyond (what we think is) our comfort zone, we end up coming home in a way we didn’t think was attainable. That’s what I call uplevelment.
The plot twist comes when we have resistance to that place of uplevelment—that place that is the home of our soul—in the form of undeserving-ness, unworthiness, suspension of belief of what’s possible, martyrdom, guilt, and the list goes on.
Another area of uplevelment for me is the release of my new podcast: The Entertainment Business Podcast. You can listen and subscribe here. Yes, I’ve had to run up against my insecurities and yet having one-on-one conversations about the business of creativity is like coming home for me.
Thank you for everyone who chimed in on my cover art design. I took everyone’s suggestions to heart. It ended up being a conglomeration of all and ended up completely different than any of the originals.
Cheers to your uplevelment 🥂
